Sculptra

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue—for results that can last up to two years.

That simply means that Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles.

How Does it Work?

Sculptra is administered through injections over multiple sessions. The specific number of required sessions will vary from patient to patient.
Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis to:

  • help revitalize collagen production
  • help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume

As the Sculptra PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.

Why Choose Sculptra?

Unlike other treatment methods, such as fillers and creams, or even cosmetic surgery, Sculptra addresses the underlying source of facial aging. Rather than mask the visible signs of wrinkly skin, Sculptra eliminates wrinkly skin from its very foundations!

Ditch the chaotic and unsettling environment of traditional medical facilities, and come experience the Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery difference. Call us today to schedule an appointment and see if you are a candidate for Sculptra!

How Long Does it Take to See Results?

Unlike other facial aging treatment options, Sculptra is known for being slow steady. Due to the fact that it does not simply mask the symptoms of aging, but rather restructures the composition of your skin to address the very root of the problem, results are slower than other methods, but they last significantly longer! It is completely safe to use unless you suffer from any specific allergies.

Safety and Side Effects

Sculptra is FDA approved and has been in use all over the world for over 23 years. It contains a synthetic material that is both biocompatible and biodegradable, and commonly found in dissolvable stitches. In other words, this synthetic material is slowly and naturally absorbed by the human body over time.

Who Qualifies for Sculptra?

Invasive anti-aging procedures require patients to be in optimal health. On the contrary, Sculptra can be easily and safely administered even in patients who suffer from chronic medical conditions. A proper evaluation is necessary in order to determine eligibility, but it is safe to use in the vast majority of cases.

Call us today to determine whether Sculptra is right for you!

How Much Does Sculptra Cost?

Sculptra is administered through direct injections over the course of multiple sessions. The cost of these injections varies, as does their total number.

Nonetheless, Sculptra is significantly more affordable than invasive, temporary anti-aging procedures!

And the best part? It treats the underlying cause of aging rather than mask its symptoms.

Call us today to schedule an appointment and see if Sculptra is right for you.

Botox Cosmetic Injections | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery

BOTOX®

New Applications for BOTOX® Injections

In addition to the conditions BOTOX® has historically treated safely and effectively, new applications for BOTOX® injections have emerged.

Plastic surgeons and plastic surgery offices now use BOTOX® for the following cosmetic issues and functional problems:

  • Vertical lip lines
  • Neck bands
  • Gummy smiles
  • Jaw slimming
  • Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)
  • Chronic migraines

In many cases, a BOTOX® treatment offers an effective, more convenient alternative to surgery for addressing a concern, while providing a natural-looking result.

The Young and The Beautiful Video Stop Hands of Time with
Palm Beach Plastic Surgery, Dr. Barr and BOTOX®

How Soon Can You See Results from BOTOX®?

In just 5 to 7 days, you will notice the effects of your BOTOX® injections, with the area looking smoother and more refreshed. At approximately 10 to 14 days, you will see the full effect of your BOTOX® injections.

How Long Does BOTOX® Last?

A Month After Treatment

Experience the full effects of your BOTOX® injections after just one month. While a minimal amount of movement may resurface in certain cases, the extent of this varies based on the treated area and individual response to the neurotoxin.

Three Months After Treatment

Be prepared for the effects of your BOTOX® treatments to gradually fade after about 3 to 6 months, with a return of movement. This is the perfect opportunity to schedule a follow-up treatment to refresh your look. While patients opt for maintenance injections every 3 to 4 months, regular use may allow you to extend the time between touch-up appointments.

What Is the Recovery Period for a BOTOX® Procedure?

For most patients, the recovery time for a BOTOX® treatment in West Palm Beach is generally minimal.

After receiving BOTOX® injectable treatments, most patients can resume their normal activities immediately without any downtime or recovery period — with no need to take time off work or school. This quick recovery time makes BOTOX® a convenient option for busy individuals.

Within the first few hours after a BOTOX® injection, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas. Furthermore, avoid lying down for at least four hours after the procedure to prevent the spreading of the toxin, which can result in bruising at the injection site.

You may experience minor side effects, such as temporary redness, swelling, or mild discomfort at the injection sites, which typically subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

To optimize the outcome of botulinum toxin injections and experience long-lasting results, follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by your plastic surgeon. These recommendations may include avoiding strenuous exercise or activities that induce excessive sweating for the first 24-48 hours after your BOTOX® procedure.

Envisioning The Steps & The Benefits of Your BOTOX® Procedure in West Palm Beach

Your BOTOX® experience begins with an initial consultation, during which our patient counselor will listen to your concerns and desires with compassion, encourage realistic expectations, make recommendations based on your unique needs, and discuss BOTOX® cost.

BOTOX® cost varies, depending on how many units will be required in your treatment plan. Our patient counselor will answer all your questions about BOTOX® and ensure that you feel confident in your decision.

Botox Cosmetic Injections

BOTOX® Cosmetic Works Beneath the Surface

Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, or damage caused by free radicals. For Example, when you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet to form over time.

Your doctor will inject BOTOX® Cosmetic into the muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet lines, temporarily reducing the activity of those muscles. The result is a reduction in the appearance of those lines.

These products may also be useful to treat excess sweating underarms, hands and or feet.

There is no product allergy testing required, however not advised during pregnancy or patients with neuro-muscular disorders.

New Uses for BOTOX®

In addition to the conditions Botox has historically been used to safely and effectively treat, new uses for Botox have emerged. Botox can be used to relax the muscles which cause vertical lip lines, neck bands, and gummy smiles; slim the jaw, and relax the jaw muscles causing TMJ (teeth grinding). In many cases, Botox is an alternative treatment to surgery or a more convenient way of addressing a concern.

Xeomin®

Xeomin® FAQs

When Will I See Results from My Xeomin® Treatment?

Most patients notice visible changes within a relatively short period, ranging from as soon as three days to up to two weeks after the procedure.

Should I Bring A Driver To Take Me Home After My Xeomin® Injection?

It's generally safe to drive yourself home after the cosmetic procedure because it does not cause significant impairment that would make it unsafe for you to drive.

Will My Xeomin® Injections Change The Way I Sleep?

These injections may not directly change the way you sleep. However, some potential side effects could impact sleep, such as general muscle weakness or visual impairment. Post-procedure, Dr. Barr will recommend specific sleeping positions and activities.

Does Xeomin® Have Risks Or Side Effects?

All medical procedures come with potential risks, including infection, bleeding, poor wound healing, and an adverse reaction. With a botulinum toxin type, the most significant risk would be the movement of the botulinum toxin into unintended areas.

You may experience common side effects such as headaches, bruising, and swelling, which should resolve quickly. However, if you experience difficulty breathing, swallowing, or extreme muscle weakness, alert your doctor immediately.

If I'm Pregnant Or Breastfeeding, Can I Still Have Xeomin® Injections?

We do not recommend botulinum toxin products for pregnant or breastfeeding women, due to a lack of safety studies.

How Can Xeomin® Help Patients With Lambert Eaton Syndrome?

Lambert Eaton is a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the neuromuscular junction. In LES, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the calcium channels in the nerve cells, hindering the release of the neurotransmitters essential for muscle contraction, and resulting in muscle weakness, particularly in the limbs. It can also cause symptoms such as difficulty walking, climbing stairs, or lifting objects.

Aside from cosmetic uses, Xeomin® has an off-label use in treating various conditions, addressing specific symptoms related to neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, muscle stiffness or spasticity that can occur as a result of the condition. By targeting and reducing muscle stiffness, Xeomin® injections can potentially help improve mobility and alleviate discomfort experienced by individuals with LEMS.

However, this off-label use should be determined by a licensed medical doctor, who can discuss the risk and benefits of such off-label use with each individual patient.

How Much Do Xeomin® Treatments Cost?

Cost varies based on the needs and desires of individual patients. During your consultation with our patient counselor, we will advise a course of action tailored for you. For your convenience, we accept CareCredit®, cash, checks, and credit cards.

How Does Xeomin® Differ From Botox® And Dysport®?

All three neuromodulators are safe and effective cosmetic treatments with FDA approval. However, some slight nuances distinguish them from each other:

  1. Protein Content: While Dysport® and BOTOX® contain complexing proteins, Xeomin® is considered "naked," meaning it lacks accessory proteins. This purity distinction may influence factors such as diffusion and spread.
  2. Diffusion and Surface Area Coverage: Xeomin® and Dysport® have better and quicker diffusion than BOTOX®, making them potentially more suitable for treating a wider surface area, while BOTOX® tends to be more localized.
  3. Allergenic Potential: Xeomin® is more pure because it lacks accessory proteins, which could help reduce potential allergic reactions to its active toxin.
  4. Onset Time: Dysport® typically shows results slightly faster than BOTOX® and Xeomin®, with visible changes appearing within 24 hours.
  5. Duration: Results from Xeomin® and Dysport® can last up to six months or longer, with BOTOX® typically lasting three to four months. However, results may vary depending on each patient's unique muscle movement patterns.
  6. Dosage Differences: Because of its purity and concentration, higher doses of Xeomin® may be needed to achieve similar results as BOTOX® or Dysport®.

Overall, patients should seek input from their doctor and consider several factors, including individual needs and desired outcome, before choosing among these neuromodulators.

At Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, We Serve Patients with Compassion, Prioritizing Safety While Recommending the Right On-Label Treatments to Help Them Reach Their Aesthetic Goals

Are you ready to say goodbye to the fine lines and wrinkles on your face? Will Xeomin work for you, or should you choose a different botulinum toxin? Schedule a consultation with our patient counselor at (561) 833-4122 or by completing our online form. During your consultation, we'll discuss your needs, goals, and medical history to determine the best course of action for you.

Restylane Injectable Gel | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery

Restylane Injectable Gel

How Restylane® Works: The Power of Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural compound widely present in different areas of the body, including the neural system, connective tissues, and skin. It helps bind water to collagen, thus preserving skin moisture.

Unfortunately, hyaluronic acid production in the body slows down as we age. Together with the dwindling of collagen and elastin, this results in loss of moisture and volume and ultimately leads to the typical signs of aging: wrinkles, skin sagging, and loss of contour.

Restylane® injections treat wrinkles and sagging by giving the skin a hyaluronic acid boost and restoring moisture, firmness, and volume to strategic areas.

Types of Restylane® Treatment Products

The Restylane® brand includes several products. The formulations are dermal filler injections based on hyaluronic acid, but each product targets a different treatment area. The Restylane® line includes:

  • Restylane® Silk: Utilizes hyaluronic acid to increase lip volume, enhance the contours of lips, and reduce small lines or wrinkles around the mouth. Featuring smaller hyaluronic acid particles than other Restylane products, Silk is used for a more precision-oriented approach to lip augmentation while reducing perioral wrinkles and helping lips to retain moisture.
  • Restylane® Lyft: A formulation designed for adding volume to the cheeks and hands.
  • Restylane® Refine: Smooths out fine lines and wrinkles in the face and chin area by reintroducing hyaluronic acid with patented XpresHAn™ technology. Refyne addresses subtle imperfections that become more pronounced over time, such as laugh lines or marionette lines. This product enhances a supple, youthful appearance.
  • Restylane® Defyne: Targets the lower face for enhanced chin projection and firmer facial contours by applying hyaluronic acid cross-linked with the molecular compound BDDE for a prolonged effect. It replaces lost facial volume and reduces folds that increasingly show as we age. Defyne also achieves a mild numbing effect at the time of injection by including a small amount of lidocaine.
  • Restylane® Kysse: Provides up to 12 months of increased lip volume and color while enhancing texture and reducing upper lip wrinkles. It uses the patented and unique XpresHAn™ formula to allow patients to retain full and natural lip flexibility while incorporating BDDE for longer-lasting effects. Kysse adds shape and volume to lips.
  • Restylane® Contour: A new product specifically formulated for correcting mid-face contour imperfections and cheek augmentation.

The optimal Restylane® treatment depends on the designated treatment areas and patient goals. It’s best to schedule a consultation with our office for guidance on the best treatment to achieve your desired results.

Is Restylane® Safe?

Restylane® is FDA-approved for patients over 21. Over the past two decades, patients worldwide—and across West Palm Beach County—have enhanced their facial appearance with over 15 million Restylane® procedures.

This type of dermal filler gel treatment is generally considered very safe when an expert injector performs it. Side effects, usually minor and temporary, include pain, swelling, bruising, topical itching, and headache. The side effects should dissipate within 2-3 days. However, Restylane® isn’t a good fit for some patients, including:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Immunocompromised patients
  • People with bacterial protein allergies
  • People who take blood thinners
  • People under 21

Benefits of Restylane®

Many patients worldwide choose Restylane® injectable dermal filler products for their multiple advantages, which include:

A natural effect

Restylane® dermal fillers act exactly like the hyaluronic acid the body produces naturally. The line’s unique formula allows it to achieve maximum effectiveness in restoring skin volume, smoothness, and elasticity.

Advanced technology

The NASHA technology Restylane® uses results in a diverse, flexible line of products, each one with a different particle size for individually customized treatments.

Finer particles target tiny wrinkles and allow high-definition shaping. Medium-sized particles act on moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and laugh lines, and larger particles work on severe, multiple wrinkles and lines.

High-focused products

Different Restylane® products use patented formulations that give each product unique properties and make it a perfect fit for a specific area: the face, lips, or hands.

How Restylane® Compares to Other Injection Treatments

Many patients wonder how Restylane® performs compared to other injectable treatments like Botox and Juvederm. It is essential to know how each treatment works to understand the difference between these products and their expected outcome.

Restylane® vs. Botox

While Restylane® is an HA-based dermal filler, Botox injections use a botulinum toxin to treat skin wrinkles. Both procedures are effective and usually involve quick recovery and minimal disruption of the patient’s everyday activities.

However, while Botox mainly works on reducing facial wrinkles, Restylane® improves face and lip contouring. Restylane® also usually provides a longer-lasting effect compared to Botox.

Restylane® vs. Juvederm

Both Restylane® and Juvederm are HA-based dermal fillers. Both types of injections give comparable appearance improvement, but Restylane® treatments work particularly well on facial folds and marionette lines near the cheeks and nose.

What to Expect from a Restylane® Procedure

Restylane® is a quick in-office procedure that involves little to no pain. The doctor will usually administer a topical anesthetic to minimize the patient’s discomfort and sanitize the injection sites before starting the injection process.

Depending on the scope of the procedure, the entire Restylane® treatment process takes between a few to 30 minutes. The patient should see an almost immediate effect.

Post-procedure Care

Most patients recover quickly and can resume their normal activities shortly after a Restylane® treatment. Some swelling, bruising, redness, and localized pain are expected during the recovery process and should disappear within a few days.

Patients should call their doctor at once if they experience excessive pain, bleeding, an infection, or an allergic reaction.

How Long Do Restylane® Effects Last?

“When will I need a repeat procedure?” is another common question patients ask before they walk out of the clinic. While individual results may differ, on average, the effect of a Restylane® treatment will last between 6 and 18 months.

How long the procedure’s benefits last may depend on the specific face or body treatment area, the number and volume of injections, and each patient’s metabolism.

RHA | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery | Tel 561-833-4122

RHA

Unlike some traditional fillers, RHA® (resilient hyaluronic acid) is designed to adapt to the movement of your face for the ultimate natural yet dynamic look.

Trust Dr. Fredric Barr at Palm Beach Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery to execute your vision. Dr. Barr is one of the select few doctors approved to administer the RHA® collection to patients, and he will make sure this cutting-edge procedure will give you the results you want.

Your RHA® Plastic Surgeon in West Palm Beach

RHA® uses the latest advancements in hyaluronic acid fillers. Your skin produces hyaluronic acid on its own, but with age, your skin may produce less of it. RHA® was designed to mimic the function of your natural hyaluronic acid as closely as possible by providing dynamic lift, fill, and smoothness to your skin.

RHA® differs from other hyaluronic acid fillers due to its mobile nature. It shifts with your skin as you speak, move, and express emotion. The goal of the filler is to offer the results you want in the most natural-looking way possible.

Note that RHA® is the first hyaluronic acid procedure to receive full FDA approval to treat dynamic wrinkles. If you’re looking for a final result that restores youth to your face without making it known that you’ve had work done, RHA® could likely be the treatment for you.

Dr. Barr has the expertise and artistic knowledge to help you get the most out of your filler. If the RHA® procedure interests you, contact our office today to learn more about requirements, benefits, scheduling, and more. We’re your destination for an RHA® plastic surgeon in West Palm Beach.

RHA® Procedures in West Palm Beach

The following are some of the key reasons why RHA® is such a cutting-edge procedure and what distinguishes it from other treatments:

  • Its effects are instant and can last up to 15 months or more.
  • It offers three levels of filler to better suit each patient.
  • It restores a look so natural, soft, and youthful that hardly anyone will be able to tell you’ve had work done.

The RHA® in our gel filler undergoes an extraordinarily gentle refinement process before it’s administered. This refinement maintains more of the hyaluronic acid’s natural structure.

Because RHA® works with your skin, not against it, it moves with your face (and any wrinkles) when you make a new expression. It minimizes the chances you’ll see any obtrusive effects that might affect the natural-looking results.

Developed by TEOXANE Laboratories in Switzerland, RHA® has been popular in Europe for several years but has only recently been approved for use in the USA. More than likely, this is the first time you’ve seen RHA® in West Palm Beach.

RHA® is not a cosmetic procedure designed to leave pronounced or exaggerated effects. It is intended to be subtle—almost unnoticeable, even to close friends—except for reducing dynamic wrinkles. While the smoothing results of RHA® will be noticeable immediately after the procedure, they will continue to settle and smooth out over time.

Some of the results you can expect to see from your RHA® injections are:

  • Enhanced and lifted cheeks
  • Smoothed temples and forehead wrinkles
  • Fuller, smooth skin that was once sunken or drooping
  • Less pronounced smile lines and nasolabial folds

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Can I Combine a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty with Other Cosmetic Injections?

Patients who undergo a non-surgical rhinoplasty often consider other facial injectables to address different areas of concern. For example:

  • Dermal fillers: In addition to enhancing the shape and contour of the nose, dermal fillers can add volume to the cheeks, smooth out lines and wrinkles, and enhance the lips. We can safely inject hyaluronic acid-based products like Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® in multiple areas of the face.
  • Neuromodulators: BOTOX® or Dysport® injections can help reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows. We can use each alongside non-surgical rhinoplasty to achieve overall facial harmony and rejuvenation.

The combination of procedures will ultimately depend on your specific needs and desires, as well as the expertise and guidance of your plastic surgeon. During a consultation, our patient counselor will evaluate your individual case, discuss your aesthetic goals, and recommend a customized treatment plan to achieve your desired results.

Restylane® Eyelight™

How Can RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Improve Under Eye Shadows and Hollowness?

RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ offers an effective solution for addressing under eye hollows caused by aging. Designed for the delicate under eye area, this dermal filler contains hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps to hydrate and plump the skin. By injecting RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ into the under eye hollows, we can restore lost volume and rejuvenate the area, smoothing out wrinkles, reducing the appearance of dark circles, and giving the eyes a more refreshed and youthful look.

With a RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ treatment administered by our aesthetic professionals, you can experience the following benefits:

  • Immediate improvement in dark shadows and tear trough area
  • A more youthful look in less than an hour
  • No scarring
  • No downtime

What Causes Shadows and Dark Circles Under the Eyes?

Lack of volume below the eyes is the primary culprit for shadows, dark circles, and tired-looking eyes. This hollowness creates grooves that deflect light and cast unflattering shadows on the skin. Despite popular remedies like cucumbers, creams, and teabags, the true issue is the lack of volume that needs to be addressed.

RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ is a minimally invasive procedure that typically requires little to no downtime. The results are immediate and can last for several months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle.

What is the Tear Trough Area?

The "tear trough" is the area commonly affected by volume loss. It begins at the inner corner of the eye and creates a curved line under the eye. A recent study reveals that a significant number of individuals are concerned about under-eye issues, likely in part due to their online presence and exposure to social media.

How Is RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Different from Other Treatments on the Market for Tired-Looking Eyes?

Among hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ is a groundbreaking product backed by NASHA® cross linking technology. Specially formulated to mimic the body's own hyaluronic acid with minimal cross linking, this comprehensive gel offers a safe and reliable solution for eliminating the unwanted effects of water absorption swelling. The RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ innovative formula ensures minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness, for peace of mind and self-confidence.

What Can I Expect During a RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Hyaluronic Acid Filler Treatment?

At Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, you can expect a personalized and professional approach to addressing under eye hollows and dark circles in the under eye area. Before receiving hyaluronic acid fillers, you will schedule a consultation with our patient counselor to discuss any medical conditions, including high blood pressure, hormonal changes, and use of birth control pills, evaluate your under eye area and overall health, and determine if RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ is right for you.

Before administering the Restylane® EYELIGHT™ hyaluronic acid filler, our Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Fredric M. Barr, M.D., F.A.C.S., will thoroughly clean the treatment area and apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

Using a fine needle, Dr. Barr will carefully inject RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ into the targeted areas of the under eye hollows, applying his artistry and medical expertise to achieve natural-looking results and restore lost volume to the area.

Throughout the procedure, our West Palm Beach plastic surgeon will monitor your response to the RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ fillers and make any necessary adjustments to ensure symmetry and optimal results.

What is the Recovery Time for a RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Procedure?

After the treatment, you will be provided specific instructions that may include avoiding strenuous activities, applying cold compresses to reduce swelling, and pausing certain medications or supplements that can increase bruising.

Since RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ is a minimally invasive procedure, most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some temporary swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site, but these side effects typically subside within a few days. The results of RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ are immediate, and you should notice a visible improvement in the appearance of your under eye hollows, with a more rejuvenated and refreshed look.

How Long Do The Results of RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Last?

The results of Restylane® EYELIGHT™ can last for several months. Patients have been extremely satisfied, reporting that their results have lasted up to at least six months after treatment. Some clinical trial subjects have reported natural-looking results up to 18 months after optimal treatment. However, keep in mind that the duration of the results can vary from person to person.

How Much Does a RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ Treatment Cost and How Many Treatments Do I Need?

During your consultation, our patient counselor will discuss your cost of treatment after a full evaluation. Because we tailor each treatment, the price of a RESTYLANE® EYELIGHT™ session varies from patient to patient. Although medical insurance does not cover the cost of dermal fillers, we accept CareCredit®, cash, checks, and credit cards for your convenience.

Can I Combine Other Products in the RESTYLANE® Family with EYELIGHT?

The RESTYLANE® family offers multiple treatment options to resolve the underlying cause of volume loss, under eye hollow, and the tear trough. At Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, we offer several RESTYLANE® dermal fillers, including:

  • Restylane® Silk
  • Restylane® Lyft
  • Restylane® Refine
  • Restylane® Defyne
  • Restylane® Kysse
  • Restylane® Contour

Each RESTYLANE® injectable filler features hyaluronic acid, but each product focuses on a different treatment area. RESTYLANE Hyaluronic dermal fillers can replace lost volume in the lips, hands, face, cheeks, and chin, while improving the appearance of under eye hollows and the tear trough. Our patient counselor can help you determine whether a combination of RESTYLANE® hyaluronic acid fillers is appropriate for you, based on your individual needs and goals.

Kybella® | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery | 561-833-4122

Kybella®

Can I Combine Kybella® with Other Injectables?

In some cases, you can combine Kybella® with certain other injectable treatments like BOTOX®, Dysport, JUVÉDERM®, and Restylane® to achieve more comprehensive results. For example, if a patient has supplemental fat and concerns about facial wrinkles or volume loss, a combination approach may be suitable. However, the decision to combine Kybella® with other injectables will depend on various factors, such as the areas being treated and the specific injectables involved. Dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® and  neuromodulators like BOTOX® and Dysport serve different purposes. Dermal fillers add volume and smooth wrinkles, while neuromodulators relax muscles.

Understand that not all injectable combinations are appropriate for every patient. Each treatment plan must be carefully customized based on your individual anatomy, goals, and overall health. During your consultation, our patient counselor will assess your specific concerns and discuss the potential benefits and risks of combining different injectables with Kybella® — before designing a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and desired outcomes.

Volbella | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery | 561-833-4122

Volbella

The patented “Vycross” technology in Volbella has been shown in clinical studies to provide greater lift capacity in the face with longer lasting results. However, the best news about Volbella for some, is that it is applauded by plastic surgeons as a safe and effective procedure that produces immediate results.

How Volbella XC Works

Volbella is injected into the lips or area being treated by a certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. An outstanding benefit of Volbella is its ability to diffuse more evenly than other fillers under the skin. As a result, it works by increasing volume and restoring a more natural symmetry to the face.

The Volbella formula is designed to minimize swelling and increase the comfort level of patients during a short, thirty-minute procedure. To reduce discomfort, Volbella is premixed with a local anesthetic. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure and if desired, makeup can also be applied on the treated areas. In addition, a single treatment has been shown to last up to 12 months for some patients.

Potential Side Effects

Most plastic surgeons agree that it is in rare cases that patients experience problems after a Volbella XC procedure. Although rare, the most commonly reported side effect include swelling, uneven distribution of the gel or subdermal lumps. The safety quotient of this product is so high, however, that misuse of Volbella is more likely to cause a negative effect than the treatment itself. As such, it is important to be selective about the service provider you choose to administer this treatment. And, by adhering to the post-Volbella XC treatment instructions provided by your doctor, you can help to ensure that the procedure is not only successful but requires little follow-up care.

Voluma | Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery | T: 561-833-4122

Voluma

What Is Voluma?

Because of its effectiveness, Voluma has fast become one of the best and most popular procedures among the older population. It’s designed to combat the signs of aging by adding volume underneath the skin to contour and lift the cheek area. How so? Well, because it is an injectable gel, it can easily be injected deep into the cheek. Voluma has been approved by the FDA to combat age-related wrinkles and volume loss around the cheek area.

The gel itself contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring chemical in the skin that is responsible for giving cheeks their plump, youthful appearance. Like many skin components, HA levels decrease over time, leading to hollow-looking, sagging cheeks. Genetics and environmental factors can also play a role in decreased levels of HA.

How Is Voluma Different from Other Fillers?

Voluma stands out from other fillers because it is specifically designed to treat the cheek area, while many others are only designed to treat smile lines. Additionally, Voluma’s injectable gel has lidocaine in it, which is a local anesthetic, so the procedure itself isn’t painful. Also, unlike a full-blown facelift, Voluma creates a subtler lift and can last for two years or longer, depending on the individual.

Voluma has earned its vast popularity because it is effective and the overall procedure is relatively quick. Approved for people over the age of 21, a Voluma Filler procedure can take as little as 30 minutes, leaving a patient with a youthful-looking face.

Our Faqs

Q

If I am seeking to undergo a combination of procedures, will they be done together or consecutively? What is the timeline for multiple procedures?

A

The answer depends on multiple factors, including the specific combination of procedures, your recovery rates, your age and health status, and your behaviors or habits. More invasive surgeries typically require recovery time ranging between 6 and 12 weeks to 6 months, and surgeries to the same area of your body will also generally require recovery time between procedures.

However, if you are in good health and the combination of procedures in question will be performed on different parts of your body and are not especially invasive, a combination of procedures could potentially be approved together on a case-by-case basis. It is imperative that the combination of procedures does not compromise your healing, and your attention to prescribed pre-operation and recovery habits also plays a significant role. Schedule a consultation for an assessment and guidance regarding the procedures you are considering.

Q

Will it be obvious that I “got work done” after my procedure?

A

While aging affects us all, there are steps we can take to put forth a more vibrant appearance. We seek to perform subtle adjustments to address imperfections and the wear of time while retaining your natural look. While you should notice an improvement, the glaring changes or distortions in appearance you are concerned about and may have seen from other surgeons’ work do not meet the standard of quality plastic and cosmetic surgery we perform in our office.

Dr. Frederic M. Barr is a board-certified Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon with over 30 years of experience performing Plastic Surgery in South Florida. We enhance and refine your appearance according to your goals. Review our Gallery of Before & After Photos to see some examples of our work.

Q

What does Breast Explant Surgery entail, and will my breasts be “back to normal” after the surgery?

A

For patients with Breast Implant Illness (BII), which can include allergy, auto-immune, and thyroid hormone issues, this has been an emerging topic with significant press coverage in recent years. Although numerous medical professionals have demonstrated varying responses to these women’s concerns, we believe in addressing these women’s experiences and symptoms. In response to this phenomenon, we have also chosen not to perform new breast implant surgeries. We perform Total Capsulectomy on patients with breast implants, which involves the removal of both the saline or silicone implant and the capsule around it.

Removal of the implants and surrounding scar tissue has been shown to improve women’s health concerning these symptoms. While some women choose no further procedure following Breast Explant Surgery, some patients elect to have a Mastopexy procedure that involves reshaping the breast tissue for a pleasant cosmetic breast appearance. We welcome your specific questions regarding these procedures and their anticipated effects for your situation. See our Breast Implant Explantation (Total Capsulectomy) page for more detailed information, including before-and-after photo examples.
